Piers Island Road Use
To all Piers Islanders,
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) has informed us that starting November 1, 2021 road access permits will have to be requested online using eDAS as a platform.
Please note the following:
As a reminder, permit requirements are described as follows in section A of the Memorandum of Understanding:
"For the period November 1 to March 31 in any given year, a permit issued by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will be required to use the Piers Island road for any vehicle or equipment which is rated in excess of 5,000 kg. G.V.W."
If the vehicle or equipment is rated under 5,000 kg. G.V.W. you do not need to apply for a permit.

Please note the following:
- Apply for a "Works - Road Works" permit on eDAS.
- MoT Office = Saanich Area Office
- Instructions to create an account and login on eDAS are attached.
- Register for a BCeID account and get familiar with eDAS in advance if you think you may need a permit this winter
- Depending on the volume of permits to process, MOTI has advised that it may take up to 10 business days to process a permit application.
